Alma mountain edition

March 18, 2025 - Alma Frequency scales new heights at Six Senses Crans-Montana in June. Join a high-impact, intimate gathering of visionaries including James Nestor, Taryn Toomey and Dr. Jess Shepherd.

Getting close to globally renowned talent at most conferences usually means you'll be jostling for position rows back in a packed venue. But at Alma Frequency, you'll be casually chatting about the concept of optimal living as you hike up a Swiss mountain trail with experts and authorities in their domain. You’ll be eating together, breathing together, chanting together, laughing together, and sharing ideas together. While other conferences keep their speakers at a distance, Alma Frequency brings you into the fold. Here, you'll find yourself in intimate discussions that make you think twice about life as you know it.

This four-day adventure at Six Senses Crans-Montana – part retreat, part festival – is taking place from June 5 to 8. It is an invitation to explore peak performance as much as the peaks around you. Just as the wildflowers bloom in the high alpine meadows, Alma holds space to grow, flourish, and nourish as a group.

“Bringing Alma to Crans-Montana feels like a natural evolution in our wellness journey,” says our Wellness Pioneer Anna Bjurstam. “The pristine Alpine setting, with its exceptional air quality and dramatic mountain backdrop, creates something truly special. In today's fast-paced digital world, there’s a growing need for authentic human connection and shared experiences.”

Program highlights

Longevity: Explore the forefront of longevity science, from hormone optimization to regenerative medicine and sexual well-being.

Movement: Dynamic movement, full-body sculpting, nature hikes, and mountain explorations designed to awaken and strengthen the body.

Reconnection & Spirit: Sonic journeys, rituals of renewal, breathwork, reflection and mastery, astrology, and mindfulness to cultivate a deep connection within.

Nurture & Nourish: Talks and workshops on food, nutrition, Ayurvedic principles, balance, supplementation, and community dinners – equipping you with the tools and tribe to thrive.

Why Alma and why now?

Alma, which is Spanish for “soul,” is the brainchild of Talana Bestall, who wanted to create an event rooted in community, longevity, spiritual well-being, and celebration: “Alma is a feeling, a frequency, a community. A space where fresh perspectives spark transformation and a regenerative approach to living. Born from a shared passion for optimal living, Alma is an invitation to step beyond comfort zones, to expand, to reconnect. It’s about gaining the tools to create a fuller, more balanced life while creating meaningful connections that extend far beyond the experience.”

The past three editions have been a platform to showcase the essence of Ibiza’s magical energy and the vibrancy of its healing community and wellness practices. This year, Alma Frequency is expanding to new horizons and the mountains of Six Senses Crans-Montana, where it will balance the grounding energy of the Swiss Alps with forward-thinking wellness programming.

Anna Bjurstam continues, “People are seeking more than just traditional wellness retreats. They want to be part of a community that inspires growth and meaningful change. What makes Alma unique is the authentic connections that form when visionaries, thought leaders, and wellness seekers come together in an environment that inspires growth.”

Who is joining us?

Alma is guided by a collective of visionary thinkers, creators, and healers.

One such pioneer is James Nestor, who transformed his health through breathwork and, with a background in science journalism, embarked on a decade-long journey to uncover why so many of us breathe poorly—and how to fix it through his bestselling book, Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art.

“Breathing is not a culture, trend, supplement, or hack. It is a biological function, and by adopting better habits, you can literally change your biology in ways that are studied and measurable,” says James. “You can change the way your mind operates and blood pumps through your veins. I see health aficionados all the time who are doing everything else right but they’re terrible breathers. They’re wondering why they still get migraine headaches or why their blood pressure is still high or why they’re anxious all of the time. I’m going to share the foundation because if you aren’t breathing functionally, you are just spinning your wheels. Only then can you use your breath more emphatically or ecstatically – to destress, warm up, focus, and even heal yourself of chronic conditions in ways that are scientifically verified.”

An advocate of nasal breathing, “I do not unconsciously breathe through my mouth anymore,” his work continues to shape global conversations around the science of breathing and its transformative impact on health and performance. At Alma Frequency, you’ll gain these insights firsthand while tapping into the power of the collective. “Group breathwork is my favorite thing to lead. In the same way that listening to live music with an audience is different from listening on your headphones, there’s a unique energy about a group of people all contributing to the same thing and finding a rhythm that becomes synchronized as we start cohering with one another.”

The fact you’ll be breathing fresh alpine air in a natural environment and away from distractions elevates the experience further. While James has traveled the world and spoken to thousands of people about the power of breath, as an explorer, his research is leading him in a new direction, inspiring material for a new book, “I am absolutely floored by some of the experiences and some of the things I am discovering right now.” You may get to hear more about it.

You’ll also meet the following inspiring individuals who bring a wealth of knowledge and innovation across wellness, arts, and personal transformation. From thought-provoking speakers to immersive artists and skilled practitioners, further visionaries and the full program will be announced soon.

Taryn Toomey engages in an ever-evolving process of experiencing, pausing, reflecting, and reimaging. Her immersion in diverse modalities—including yoga, EMDR, sound baths, sports, rhythmic breathwork, and psychodynamic therapies—has shaped The Class, a music-driven somatic exercise practice that is taking the world by storm. By releasing tension and clearing stuck energy, students reconnect to themselves and cultivate a sense of clarity and presence.

Jasmine Hemsley is a holistic well-being expert, three-time best-selling author, and TV presenter with a show broadcast in over 25 countries. The Founder of Hemsley + Hemsley and East by West, a chef and writer with a passion for Ayurveda, Jasmine believes in conscious, joyful living.

Dr. Jessica Shepherd is a board-certified gynecologist and women’s health expert specializing in hormone optimization and longevity. She is the founder of Modern Meno Health and regularly appears on Good Morning America, The Today Show, CNN, MSNBC, and CBS News. She is dedicated to educating people on addressing their physical, sexual, and emotional health through a holistic approach rooted in prevention, wellness, and scientific advancement.

Luuk Melisse is the force behind global sensation Sanctum, a collective known for leading transformative experiences that blend physical activity with spiritual reflection. Practiced with headphones and curated music, the workouts and guided hikes in nature combine modern fitness techniques, martial arts, breathwork, and a whole lot of ‘ha’.

Rose Theodora is a celebrated astrologer, teacher, and wellness expert known for her innovative approach to blending astrology with neuroscience and integrative wellness. With over a decade of experience, she has guided thousands of individuals to transform their lives by aligning with their natural rhythms.

Previous festivals have welcomed the likes of Epidemiology professor Tim Spector, father of biohacking Dave Asprey, Mindvalley creator Vishen Lakhiani, female health and hormone expert Dr. Jessica Shepherd, functional medicine expert Dr. Ingrid Yang, fashion icons Arizona Muse and Lily Cole, and power performance couple Ben and Jessa Greenfield.
