Solo travel experiences your way

September 17, 2024 - Whether you’re joining us solo or just seeking time out from your group, enjoy our Garden Barbecue in Portugal, locally inspired activities in Thailand, immersive personal retreats in India, and creative workspace in Vietnam.

Build a longer table: an evening of flavors and fellowship in the beautiful Douro Valley

If you’re alone, you’re never lonely at Six Senses Douro Valley. For those seeking some precious “me time”, our myriad experiences promote personal growth, reflection, and reconnection. When you fancy a little company, our Garden Barbecue is hosted in our colorful organic garden, offering solo travelers the opportunity to connect with fellow guests in a warm and convivial atmosphere.

Pull up a seat at a long communal table, where guests from around the world come together to share stories, savor regional flavors, forge new connections, and make new travel memories. Here it is easy for anyone to feel part of a wider family.

The Garden Barbecue is more than just a meal. It's a celebration of community spirit under the stars as the aroma of grilled delicacies wafts through the air. In harmony with our Eat With Six Senses philosophy, fresh, locally sourced ingredients are transformed into a feast by our skilled chefs, who showcase rich, vibrant local flavors paired with drinks from this iconic Port wine region.

Full moon kayaking, community cook outs, yoga, and workshops in Thailand

If you’re a solo traveler at Six Senses Yao Noi, or relishing a little time to yourself, daily activities are crafted to nourish mind, body, and spirit, from yoga classes to kayaking, sound healing sessions, body scrub workshops, and communal cooking classes.

Try Full Moon Kayaking in Thailand under starlit skies as your guide leads you out onto the shimmering lagoon to watch the moon rise over the atmospheric limestone formations of Phang Nga Bay. With barely a drop of light pollution, you’ll usually spot a few shooting stars. Don’t forget to make a wish!

Join us any day for a sustainability workshop at our Earth Lab, or head to the Alchemy Bar to learn the art of making coconut oil and DIY body scrubs using locally sourced ingredients.

When it’s time to stretch out and switch off, come along to our daily complimentary Hatha or Facial Yoga classes, or for those who prefer to lift off, we run a thrice-weekly Aerial Yoga session. Learn more about the power of sound at one of our weekly Sound Healing sessions or venture further along the path to achieving your well-being goals with 1-day, 3-day, and 5-day integrated wellness programs.

Communal Thai Cooking Classes and our Communal Chef's Table keep your taste buds dancing as you learn more about the region’s vibrant food culture in a social setting and snag a secret recipe or two, topped up with herbs and flowers handpicked from our organic garden. Drop by our weekly Management Cocktails to enjoy a crafted cocktail or zingy mocktail in good company.

Come alone and leave with friends at our immersive wellness retreat in the foothills of the Himalayas

Everything at Six Senses Vana is crafted to help you feel, think, and be better through connecting to yourself, others, and nature. Here, many of our guests arrive as solo travelers and leave having formed new friendships thanks to the perfect balance of solitude and sociability.

Staying true to our Eat With Six Senses principles, meals change seasonally. In September, we switch to our autumn menu, or ‘Sharad Ritu’, featuring leafy greens, and fruits such as apples, pears, and pomegranates. Fish and seafood is at its best in the fall, so expect delicious pop-ups including paella for lunch at Salana, and Satay Station at the Library in the evenings.

At Salana, our world cuisine restaurant, meals are eaten at communal tables that invite you to share a meal and share your story. We extend this community feel with group activities such as pottery, yoga, or sound healing, creating a sense of togetherness while respecting individual needs.

Should you prefer a quieter meal experience, Anayu is designed on Ayurvedic principles. Dine in peace as you gaze over the vast Sal forest protecting us.

The Library serves as a social hub and our hosts are on hand for you to sample interesting beverages related to gut health. Our retreat programming is carefully crafted to offer a wide range of group activities beyond yoga and Ayurvedic healing to include bamboo art, raag therapy, Hindustani classical live performances, fitness and aqua sessions, and sustainability activities, to name just a few, allowing you the chance to connect with fellow guests from across the globe.

Communal hikes, serene spa treatments, delicious dining, and an epic kids’ club in Vietnam

Whether you’re seeking a tranquil escape, a serene backdrop for your next creative project, or a workspace to check a few emails during your stay, Six Senses Ninh Van Bay offers spacious villas with a separate living room. There’s a white-sand beach just steps away when it’s time for a refreshing break.

Throughout your stay, your well-being is our priority. At Six Senses Spa, our sanctuary in the hilltops, we offer an array of traditional Vietnamese therapies, while complimentary yoga and meditation classes are available throughout the day. One of our most popular excursions is a communal hiking journey into the forest to see the rare Black Shanked Douc Langur.

Dining options abound, with 12 restaurants and bars offering a 50 percent plant-based menu. The Farmhouse specializes in delicious and nutritious farm-to-fork dishes, with a selection of ingredients handpicked from our organic garden, Solar FreshCuts, niftily sited beneath 800 solar panels. Dining by the Rocks features a new Nikkei menu blending Japanese and Latin American flavors.

If you’re bringing your family, the Vooc Village Grow With Six Senses kids' club offers 58 activities in a sustainably designed space, allowing you to focus on work or disappear off to enjoy a massage or a swim, while your children are happily engaged.
