November 29, 2023 - Opening May 2024, our debut Caribbean resort, Six Senses La Sagesse, will offer a welcome as warm as the spice and rum that the sun-splashed island of Grenada is renowned for. Get ready to make lifelong memories.
From tall mountains to shimmering reefs, spicy soca rhythms to upbeat calypso music, and pirate shipwrecks to sugar-sand beaches, Grenada is a joyous trio of islands and a happy explosion of color. Secluded by verdant green hills on the south coast, Six Senses La Sagesse enjoys a prime spot between two beaches – one protected and one with ocean rollers – all set around a tranquil lagoon.
It’s the sort of place that grabs you by the heart and never lets go, as General Manager Thomas Fehlbier elaborates, “I am excited for our guests to discover this ‘treasure island’ in the Caribbean. The people of Grenada have given us an open-armed, warmhearted welcome, and we have come to appreciate the laidback pace of life and natural beauty Grenada has to offer. Our hosts look forward to sharing the distinct charm found only in Grenada with all who visit.”
Our slice of tropical island paradise offers fascinating activities and exhilarating excursions both on and off resort, no matter how active or relaxed you want to be. General Manager Thomas recommends, “Discovering Grenada’s underwater wonders, catching the perfect wave, soaking up centuries-old culture (or rum!), creating your own chocolate, and experiencing captivating cultural festivals.”
Our Experience Center has designed a unique itinerary to maintain a connection to Grenada’s Spice Island heritage, starting at the capital, Saint George’s, which boasts one of the prettiest waterfronts in the Caribbean. Stroll along the buzzing horseshoe-shaped harbor lined with bobbing boats and down the enchanting Time Travel Tunnel featuring educational plaques detailing Grenada’s history.
Pull on boots for a trip into Grand Etang National Park, a rainforest full of life, including the island’s adored national bird, the Grenada Dove, as well as the Mona monkey, the mongoose, and the nine-banded armadillo. It is also a hiker’s heaven, from a 15-minute stroll to a more demanding, guided climb up to Mount Qua Qua or to the mysterious ‘bottomless’ Lake Grand Etang, which fills the crater of an extinct volcano.
Abundant forest trails and volcanic hillsides are an explorer’s paradise just waiting to be discovered, by foot or e-bike, on a personalized tour. The island is also widely renowned as the Shipwreck Capital of the Caribbean, sprinkled with numerous sunken ships, colorful reefs teeming with marine life, and the world’s only underwater sculpture park.
If you prefer lazing on a lounger or basking in the warm, shallow waters of La Sagesse Beach, named one of the best in Grenada, our hosts will keep you topped up with cold, refreshing drinks and healthy but delicious snacks. Or you can wander over to our second beach, The Lance Pere, a private and undeveloped bay with views of dramatic cliffs towering above white horse waves.
Thomas and his team will ensure you find balance, “in a range of activities such as meditation, forest bathing, labyrinth walking, sensory foot reflexology, and sunset yoga classes, which will reignite your senses and help you find inner peace and joy.”
Our menus are inspired by the Caribbean and South America while following our Eat With Six Senses philosophy to keep your plate filled with colorful, fresh local produce. The island’s fertile volcanic soil grows an abundance of ingredients that ensure our three restaurants, two bars, salchichoneria, café, and destination dining are truly one-of-a-kind. Sit back and sip a carefully crafted rum cocktail paired with your meal.
Uniquely set overlooking the lagoon, our Six Senses Spa is designed in the style of a traditional fishing village. Local community knowledge, age-old traditions, and indigenous plants and herbs combine with pioneering wellness programs focusing on sleep, movement, yoga, and longevity. High-tech and high-touch therapies offered under the healing hands of in-house experts and Visiting Practitioners guide you on a personal path to growth and reconnection as deep as you want to go.
Unique treatments include the Caribbean Cleansing Ritual, an infusion inspired by island culture that helps to gently release negative energies and promotes balance. This ritual is rounded off with a refreshing cup of local bush tea. Our Journey to Repose features a relaxing foot bath ritual, which allows guests to reset their mind and body. Thomas’s favorite is, “The Alchemy Bar Workshop, where guests can learn how to create clean potions and remedies using exotic ingredients found on Grenada's Spice Island.” The best thing is that you get to take your spa products home to carry on the good work after you leave.
Surrounded by nature, our 56 pool suites combine eco-credentials and comfort, each leading to a private plunge pool for a cooling dip. In addition, there are 15 villas enjoying a prime hillside or beachfront setting, ranging between one, two, and four bedrooms. The five four-bedroom villas on the Bluff offer a 270-degree view of one of the most coveted locations in the Caribbean. You have to see it to believe it!
