Sustainability in Fort Barwara
Six Senses Fort Barwara reflects the history and heritage of the Barwara community as it has unfolded over generations. The 700-year-old palace and temples have been responsibly restored using traditional building techniques used in Rajasthan, sensitively incorporating efficient design elements such as rainwater collection tanks and solar panels to complement rather than detract from the beautiful and historic architecture. From this significant conservation effort that reinterprets a bygone era's gracious and regal ambiance to our work to protect the wider Barwara community, lake, and landscape, we minimize our negative impacts and maximize our positive ones.
Environmental Responsibility
Through our commitment to sustainability in our operations, we minimize our negative impact on our natural environment. Beyond our walls, we implement initiatives to actively preserve, promote, and regenerate natural areas. These efforts include meticulous clean-ups at the Chauth Ka Barwara Lake and leopard catchment, located near to the hotel, which in 2023 resulted in 620 kilograms of trash being removed.

Rewilding the landscape
Our rewilding project aims to conserve the natural habit by removing invasive species such Prosopis Juliflora and by planting native and endemic trees and plants which are vital for a healthy ecosystem.
Social Responsibility
We are proud to support skills development programs that empower women in the village, enhancing livelihoods from traditional art forms such as block printing, which we showcase and sell in our boutique. With the support of a women’s’ doctor, we also advocate for awareness and improved knowledge around women’s health and promote and provide sustainable sanitary products. In 2023, five hours of teaching was shared on this topic.

We provide locals a platform to showcase their handcraft which have been passed on for generations and sell their products.
