Loving all things green
Staying true to our core values, Six Senses Uluwatu, Bali has implemented a series of sustainability initiatives designed to reduce the energy, water, and waste involved with every guest’s stay. We actively raise awareness in our local communities about environmental and social responsibility, and welcome our guests and hosts to learn more during our garden tours, where they can learn about composting, and workshops in our Earth Lab. Our organic garden supplies our restaurant and bar with the freshest ingredients. Kitchen oil is converted to biodiesel. Waste water is treated onsite and then mixed with rainwater catchment for reuse in landscape gardening and fire hydrant storage. Well water from the resort’s own source is purified with sand filters and reverse osmosis filters before being bottled onsite.
Environmental Responsibility
All Six Senses resorts produce still and sparkling drinking water for guests and hosts to minimize the carbon footprint that results from the packaging and transport of water - it tastes great too. At Earth Lab, our center for environmental education and zero waste, we upcycle waste materials into new products. This limits our negative impact on the local environment while continuing to increase our operational efficiency.

Plastic-free Bali
In addition to adhering to Six Senses sustainable purchasing guidelines, we collaborate with our suppliers to enhance the sustainability of their packaging, striving to eliminate unnecessary materials like single-use plastic bags or wrapping. Furthermore, we are spreading this ethos to the wider community and other local businesses. We regularly organize clean-up events in nearby areas and welcome our hosts to join in.

Empowering young woman
We partner with Bali Wise to help young women gain skills and language education. Twice a year, young women are selected to participate in 6-months of training and industry experience. Not only do we offer internships, but we also share our skills and knowledge, whether through our Executive Chef, Spa Therapist or Sustainability Officer, to enrich the program and provide real-life learning.

Soap distribution
As part of our zero-waste philosophy, we collect leftover soap and work with our partner Role Foundation to upcycle it into new bars to distributed to nursing homes, orphanages, community organizations, schools, and financially challenged families, helping them reduce their monthly expenses.
