According to legend, Rome was founded in 753 BC by Romulus, son of the Roman god of war, Mars. When a local King ordered Romulus, and his twin brother Remus, to be abandoned on the bank of the river Tiber, they survived thanks to a Lupa Capitolina or she-wolf, who provided shelter and milk for the youngsters.

Romans strongly identified with this mythical story and who are we to argue? In fact, you'll see our Aurelia the she-wolf in our guest rooms, with proceeds of every sale going to our Sustainability Fund. As for the stories below, they're based on facts not fiction. Ask your GEM for more information on visiting Rome like a local!
