Sustainable Resort in Ibiza
Ibiza's rippling hills and glittering coves offer an incomparable biodiversity filled with nature and beauty. Six Senses Ibiza is the first BREEAM certified resort (one of the world’s leading sustainability property assessment methods) in the Balearics. The resort’s dedicated Sustainability Fund made up of 0.5 percent of total revenue supports local impact nonprofits, such as educating the local community and fighting plastic pollution. We cultivate healthy, organic produce on our nearby farm, Can Tanca, delivering fresh fruit and vegetables every day. Our strong commitment to environmental stewardship and best practices in the hospitality and tourism sector has been recognized via two prestigious certifications: ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. They further validate our ongoing dedication to sustainability, quality management, and environmental responsibility.

Together with our hosts, we are firmly committed to improving the ecological and carbon footprint from activities associated with the resort and spa operations.

Hedgehog Rescue and Rehabiltation
We support a local hedgehog sanctuary, CanHog, that takes care of the spiky little animals populating our island when injured or in need. Although hedgehogs are nationally protected, they are still vulnerable to human development such as traffic and pesticides. Through combined efforts and support, in 2022-2023, CanHog treated and rehabilitated 900 hedgehogs. To celebrate our native friends, a hedgehog soft toy mascot created by local artists is placed in every guest room. By purchasing it, guests contribute directly to the sanctuary through our Sustainability Fund.

Clean and Care Together
In order to help flight plastic pollution in Ibiza, in 2023 we supported Pachamama Beach, a local foundation which organizes the collection of plastics from local beaches and the surrounding land. This project helped collect and remove of 20 kilograms of micro-plastics around the municipality of San Joan.

Regenera Natura
Regenera Natura is a high impact environmental project with one objective: to collaborate with nature and provide a sustainable solution to forest management in Ibiza. They do this by developing forest engineering plans that clear abandoned forest mass, reforesting with native species, and recovering mixed Mediterranean forests. Through funding and volunteering in 2023, Six Senses Ibiza has so far supported the regeneration and reforestation of a 6.8 hectare area of land in the municipality of San Joan.
Social Responsibility
Working directly within our community, we make positive impacts by employing and purchasing locally, organizing activities for hosts and guests to give back, and directly funding worthwhile community projects.

Living Sustainably
To educate children and foster a deeper understanding about water as a precious natural resource, we are funding school workshops run by Alianza por el Agua, a local organization dedicated to water education and preservation. The initiative aims to raise awareness of the island’s limited water resources and how best to preserve it. To date, we have reached students from nine local schools across the island. In 2023, the project ran workshops with 374 students over 398 hours of teaching.
We are also supporting APNEEF, a local non-profit association caring for children and adolescents with disabilities in Eivissa and Formentera. Part of our contribution was to develop a series of activities to respect and protect the environment.

Marine Conservation and Awareness
Vellmari association’s marine biologists recently established Learn & Protect, an innovative and engaging educational program designed to inspire and educate children about the importance of marine conservation. The association provides accessible resources and a set of educational tools to every school in Ibiza and Formentera to help create awareness amongst children. The program aims to install a sense of environmental responsibility and inspire the next generation to actively participate in the protection of our oceans by empowering young people to get involved by sparking their curiosity when it comes to the marine environment.
