Ephesus is a city that takes you back in time. Initially inhabited by the local Anatolian people, it was later captured by Ionian tribes. Greek and Anatolian cultures mingled and influenced each other. During the Roman era, Ephesus reached its peak, with a population of over 250,000 inhabitants. The nearby attractions include The House of the Virgin Mary, The Basilica of St John, The Temple of Artemis, and the Ephesus Museum of Archaeology. There are also beaches, factory outlets, and local restaurants to enjoy as well.

In ancient times Didyma was the famous site of the Temple of Apollo, where oracles revealed the future. Didyma was not a city, but a place of worship dedicated to Artemis, the twin sister of Apollo, hence the name which means “twins” in ancient Greek. Priene is considered to be the most spectacular example of an almost entirely preserved ancient city, picturesquely located on the slopes of Mykale mountain and providing a fabulous viewpoint over the plain where the river Meander winds its way to the Aegean Sea.
