Blending into desert life
We are proud to be the first hotel in Israel to achieve LEED Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Based on our sustainable design and construction, which seamlessly blends the hotel structure into the landscape, we achieve a 25 percent reduction in energy consumption. Energy usage is optimized by high-efficiency mechanical and electrical systems as well as energy-efficient lighting systems including motion and occupancy sensors. Food waste is composted to feed our organic garden and water is bottled on site to avoid plastic. Used cooking oil from the kitchen is donated to make biodiesel in the community. The hotel has zero discharge of liquids into the environment, using a palm grove to absorb 100 percent of treated wastewater on site.
During your stay, come and see us at our Earth Lab to learn about the resort's sustainability efforts to reduce consumption, produce locally, and support local communities and ecosystems. The experience is fun and interactive, so you can take part in workshops and engage with local community members who share their knowledge of local desert craftmanship and sustainability.
Finally, as in all Six Senses resorts, still and sparkling drinking water is produced and bottled on-site in glass bottles. We have partnered with BevGuard® brand filter to enhance our existing water supply and produce high quality drinking water without the use of plastic bottles. Our guests, hosts and camels love it!
